Consent & Ownership

How consent and ownership intersect in the AI clone era. Why a one-time check box is not enough and what a durable consent framework actually requires.

01Consent as an ongoing relationship

Consent for a personal AI artifact is not a moment. It is a relationship that must be revisitable. People's circumstances change; their willingness to be represented by a clone changes with them.

A good consent framework treats every category of use as a separate decision and gives the person an unconditional right to withdraw any of them at any time.

02Ownership follows consent

When the person can withdraw consent at any time, ownership of the resulting model becomes meaningfully theirs, because the model cannot continue to exist over their objection.

Without that withdrawal right, ownership is nominal. The contract may say one thing; the operating reality is that the platform owns the asset.
